Lanyards have made their way into all types of businesses and organizations and are expected to continue to be a huge part of the workforce. Since there are so many different types available, how do you know which one would be the best for your company? Choosing the right lanyards will be easier when you have some basic information about the different options you have.

When you know what options are available, you can make an informed decision and choose the one that suits your needs the best. Not only are there different styles of materials to choose from, but there are also several different types of attachments that are designed to hook the card to the lanyard. Below you will find some information about the material used and the hooks that are available.

Types of Lanyards

Normally, the printed ID lanyards are made from nylon, cotton or polyester and they are made in convenient sizes from 3/8 to 1 inch in width. Your name or logo can be printed all around the material or you can choose from a variety of different colors. When it comes to the quality of the print you have three different options to choose from. These are the basic, medium or highest grade quality depending on how much you want to spend.

You can order custom-made designs that are great for added security, because they will be extremely hard to duplicate. When customizing your ID card lanyard, you will need to choose the color you prefer, along with the type of material used to make them. For instance, you can choose between woven, tube, rope, beaded, flat, metal and leather material.

Some types are given the name "break-away" because the part that goes around your neck has a connection where it can be pulled apart. This eliminates the risk of being choked by the identification lanyard. This style is usually used as promotional items. They are also used in industrial companies to prevent accidents from occurring due to the ID card getting hung up on the machinery.

Attachments to Hold the ID Cards

Another thing to consider is the type of device that secures the ID card in place. There are several types of hooks available to choose from, making it easy to find the one that suits your needs the best.

Here are the different types of hooks available:

-Swivel hooks
-Badge holders
-Key rings
-Phone holder
-Trigger hook
-Pull-apart key ring
-Pen holder
-Gripper
-Bulldog clip

The type of clip you need will depend on how the lanyard will be used. Choose something that is convenient and easy to handle while still being practical. The type of hook that you need will also be determined by the type of ID card that is used. They must be compatible with each other to work correctly.

Take your time and search through the different options available before you make a decision. You can also try different types to see which one works the best or to provide your employers or students with options.
