Fatigue is a term that is very difficult to define exactly. The reason for this is that it shows different symptoms, causes and conditions in different people. In broader sense fatigue is the feeling of tiredness, sleepy, exhaustion, lethargic, drowsy all the time through out the day. The other symptoms of fatigue are the weakness, lack of energy always-feeling low or out of mood. Shortness of breath is also experienced.

The causes behind fatigue are both physical as well as emotional. Physical causes of fatigue may range from 20 – 70 percent while the emotional causes range from 40 – 80 percent. People suffering from fatigue slowly start loosing interest in all the surrounding activities and show reflexes and reduced activity level. Some causes of fatigue are like headache, dizziness, tiredness or lack of sleep from days. The others that accompany the causes are appetite loss, blurry vision, poor concentration and the muscle weakness. Less common along the causes of fatigue are the reduced immune system functioning, Hallucinations, moodiness or the low motivation. This all can be summed up as the physical and emotional disputes of the body. it can also be said as unhealthy life style or lack of regular medical check ups.the medical causes include a wide variety from some easy going problem flu to serious trouble like tuberculosis. The life style causes include lack of sleep, too much sleep, sleep apnea, intake of alcohol, drugs or too much of smoking, sleep disturbances (insomnia), lack of proper and regular exercises, poor diet or unhealthy dietary food items. Deficiency of a single vitamin, mineral or the electrolyte required by the body also leads to fatigue. Heart disease and lung disease also contribute to the cause of fatigue. Workplace related causes of fatigue could be uncomfortable shift work, stress or too much workload. Psychological causes of fatigue include depression, sorrow, grief or some sort of mental tension. Endocrine disorders like the low\high blood pressure, rise\fall in sugar levels, low\high cortisol or thyroid are also the causes of fatigue. Gynecological problems like the menopause or the pregnancy also show fatigue symptoms in ladies. Thus it can be said that anyone and everyone irrespective of suffering from some prior disease can be a victim of fatigue.

Some medical treatments for fatigue are essential to keep in knowledge. The lifestyle one lives has a great impact to control the disease. Thus a check at that should be maintained. Antibiotics to fight the infection and other health related problems should be taken consulting the doctor. Medications to control the sugar levels, blood pressure, and thyroid should be taken regularly.

As all know prevention is better than cure. The very basic prevention is checking the sleeping and eating habits. Exercising daily is of great help. It has been found that low intensity exercises help to increase the energy level by 20%. The preventive measures include avoiding all kinds of drugs. One another way is to remain stress free and not bother the brain much by over thinking. Having sex with ones partner is also an effective way to avoid fatigue.
