There are several insurance products that exist and may provide cover for different things. For example, car insurance to protect your vehicle in case of an accident. Likewise, critical illness cover may provide coverage for certain critical illness conditions already defined by your policy. A tax free lump sum may be awarded to should make a critical illness claim for a specified illness. Remember that the critical illness claimed for may have to be already defined by your critical illness policy.

Moreover, if you encounter an accident or any other incident that prevents you from attending work, the critical illness cover can make a payout. Many critical illness policies may not provide cover to people already suffering from an illness before taking out the policy. More precisely, if you suffer from heart attack or has cancer as a hereditary critical illness, you may not be allowed to use the coverage for medical treatment. In case you may be encountering difficulties to find a critical illness policy you could use the internet. There may be many brokers online who may be able to help you find the coverage that suits your needs. These brokers may find suitable critical illness policies for you though you may be already suffering. The premiums may be rather high but the benefits also could be similar.

Furthermore, the UK government may be currently in the process of increasing the disability retirement age to 67 instead of 65. Statistics may reveal that 1 out of every 5 men and 1 out of every 6 women worldwide may be diagnosed with some form of critical illness at a point in their lives. Due to the changes made by the government, one could not predict if these changes will apply to Medicare and Medicaid. Thus, having a critical illness cover or otherwise paying high premiums for such a cover may be towards one's own advantage.

Additionally, chemicals and other types of pollutions may be another reason for people becoming critically ill. Due to this, thousands of people around the world fall prey to various critical illness conditions. Research carried out recently may reveal that the average age for people becoming critically ill may be around 47. But many people believe that suffering from a critical illness may only happen to others. Living in this doubt, hundreds of people contract a critical illness. As a result there would be no critical illness cover to cope with medical charges and treatments. The worst fact is that the financial breakdown that may often occur in such situations would not be prevented.

According to recent statistics, around 35 percent of men and 46 percent of women may have been diagnosed with a critical illness such as cancer during the past couple of years. Nearly 78 percent of people suffering from a critical illness such as stroke may have been alive for one year after intervention. On the other hand, the cancer victims may have lived for around 5 years before they died. Also, reports showed that approximately 41,000 women in the UK may have contracted a critical illness such as breast cancer. This could mean that more than 130 women may be at risk of death. As for men, around 26,000 may have been diagnosed with a critical illness such as lung cancer. This may have led to the death of nearly 100 men. So, looking at this fact, we could see that critical illness cover can be really important.

You could never tell when you could encounter an accident in your life or fall critically ill. So, as a precaution having a critical illness cover now can save you later.
