Kei jidousha. This is a Japanese term that when translated to English means mini cars. And this kind of vehicles is actually what Suzuki is ever so famous of. These Suzuki mini cars are actually famous also not only for the type of Suzuki accessories that give these vehicles a far more sporty look but also for its engine – one that has the capacity to take in 660 cc. And even if these Suzuki vehicles are running with competition like cars from Honda, Nissan, and Daihatsu, Suzuki still prevails in this segment.

The Suzuki Swift is one of the top vehicles in the range of cars from this company. However, since the Suzuki Swift is actually a compact car and not exactly a mini car, the company had quite to go through hurdles so as to be able to bring this vehicle straight right into the limelight. But with the Suzuki Swift bringing in tons of features that makes it a good buy for most customers in the compact car class, in no time, the Suzuki Swift was already zooming its way to the top. Of course, who would not want to purchase a vehicle that held compact car qualities and was even holding a price tag lower than most ones. And an added plus for this one was that it was a sporty vehicle and was very much keeping up to its name – Swift.

This vehicle started production back in the year 1985 and up until the present, the Suzuki Swift is still making waves in the auto industry. It has even been able to rise up to the ranks of vehicles like the Ford Festiva, the Mazda Demio, Toyota Vitz, and the Hyundai Atos which the Suzuki Swift very much considers to be its competition in the market.

However, if you are thinking that the Suzuki Swift may be only sold in quite a few number of countries or markets, then you may want to do some further research. You see, this vehicle is actually marketed in various locations using various names. For example, the Suzuki Swift is known as such in Japan. But if you do try to travel to Canada, this one is known as the Pontiac Firefly. It was also came to be known as the Chevrolet Sprint and the Geo Metro in the US and in Canada.
