Refined tastes have all the appreciation from one and all. But when it comes to food, refined means more fat and more carbohydrates and less of fibre. If you have not known this basic fact earlier, let me tell you that fibre is a super car in which travel the super stars like proteins, fats, carbohydrates and vitamins. That means the fibre in our food must be as voluminous as our metaphorical car to seat light weight vital food ingredients as our superstars of metaphor.
The more voluminous the fibre in your diet is the slimmer you will tend to be.
The refined food pulls the vehicle from down under its passengers, the vital food ingredients. Now if you are on vegetables or fruits, do not peel them as far as possible. I have no problem eating papaya, apple, peaches and a host of not-so-bitter fruits unpeeled. The peel is a storehouse of the valuable fibre. First of all it cleanses your bowels, so that you can be assured of regular evacuation. Then the fibre extends that essential suppleness to your veins and arteries; the absence of fibre means hardening vascular walls and consequent arteriosclerosis. Overweight would tend to hardened vessels much earlier in their life.
Try to have even the vegetables as whole, unpeeled. They are the greatest natural cleansers known to mankind.
But by fat the best cleanser is the fibre that you get from the filtered flour. Thick, and not finely, ground whole wheat is fine-filtered to get the residue in the upper portion of the sieve. If you can get hold of that for your regular bread, then you take it that you have won the battle against the bulge.
Learn to make fresh home-made bread from the wheat refuse (actually it is not a refuse but highly nutritious, fibre-rich component of the cereal) as mentioned above. Add some cumins and ginger for carminative effect.
