You've probably heard it said time and time again - 'the money is in the list'. It is true that if you have an opt-in list of subscribers, you have an attentive audience - members who are interested in what you have to say. Having a list of subscribers certainly helps to target a specific group of people, much the same as targeting a niche.

Another good thing about having your own list of subscribers is that it not only gives you the opportunity to teach others what you have learned, build a good reputation for yourself in the Internet Marketing world and build a great relationship between you and your clientelle but you also have the chance to promote products that you use and recommend through your affiliate links.

An absolute must for any Internet Marketer is to have an autoresponder. There are a few companies on the Internet that provide this service, namely Aweber as one choice.

One thing you can do to start building your list once you have set up your website is to have a free report or chapter from your product that visitors may download and put on their own websites as a free download for their website visitors. Everyone loves something that's free and this could also help you get more traffic to your site. If your subscriber places your report on their website as a free download for their website visitors, you will then gain traffic coming from their websites as people will click on your link in the report. This will bring you more traffic and more potential buyers and subscribers at no cost to you.

Another good idea is to look out for JV Giveaway events. With these events you may submit your own product, bearing in mind that you need to have a few subscribers of your own first and therefore an autoresponder. If anyone wants your gift, they will have to opt-in to your mailing list to receive it. Internet Marketers from all over the world go to these events and they get a lot of coverage. So this is another excellent way of building your list.

Having a list of subscribers will not happen overnight. This is something that you will have to work hard at to achieve. An old saying that rings true is 'if at first you don't succeed, try, try, try again'.
